Apps built with the iOS 26 SDK or earlier run in a phone-sized window on the inner display until the developer ships an update built with the iOS 27.1 SDK. On the outer display they look normal.

Yes. The 5.4-inch outer display works like a regular iPhone screen, so every app runs there at normal phone size.

Can games use both screens of iPhone Duo at the same time?

Not that we’ve seen. No review or Apple page shows a game running on the inner and outer displays at once, and Apple only documents showing content on both displays for camera apps. Some games use the fold instead: Battlefleet Duo is played half-open like a laptop, with the targeting grid on the top half of the inner display and your fleet on the bottom.

What happens to a game when I fold or unfold iPhone Duo?

Apps built with the iOS 27 SDK or later resize when you open the phone and move to the outer display when you close it. Apple asks game developers to keep games playable in every position. Games built with older SDKs stay in a letterboxed window on the inner display.
