Social apps on iPhone Duo

Of the 22 popular social apps we track on the US App Store, 11 are confirmed to fill iPhone Duo’s inner display, including Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp Messenger. 11 still show black bars or unused space, including TikTok, Messenger and Snapchat.

Feeds are built for a tall, narrow phone screen. On iPhone Duo's near-square inner display, an unadapted feed either sits in a phone-sized window with black bars or stretches into oversized photos. Apps with iPad versions usually have a head start.

Questions

Which social apps work on iPhone Duo?

All of them run on iPhone Duo. Of the 22 we track, 11 are confirmed to use the whole inner display: Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp Messenger, Discord, Life360 and Threads.

Do social apps have black bars on iPhone Duo?

11 of the 22 we track show black bars or unused space today, including TikTok, Messenger, Snapchat, Pinterest and GroupMe. Apps built with the iOS 26 SDK or earlier run in a phone-sized window on the inner display until the developer ships an update built with the iOS 27.1 SDK. On the outer display they look normal.

Do social apps work on iPhone Duo’s outer display?

Yes. The 5.4-inch outer display works like a regular iPhone screen, so every app runs there at normal phone size.
