Reading apps on iPhone Duo
Of the 14 popular reading apps we track on the US App Store, 8 are confirmed to fill iPhone Duo’s inner display, including X, The Wall Street Journal News and Sky Guide. 6 still show black bars or unused space, including Reddit, Apple News and NYTimes.
Reading is one of the best reasons to buy a foldable. Look for two-page spreads, comfortable margins and text that reflows instead of scaling up.

Questions
Which reading apps work on iPhone Duo?
All of them run on iPhone Duo. Of the 14 we track, 8 are confirmed to use the whole inner display: X, The Wall Street Journal News, Sky Guide, Bible Chat, Medium and Overcast Podcast App.
Do reading apps have black bars on iPhone Duo?
6 of the 14 we track show black bars or unused space today, including Reddit, Apple News, NYTimes, Watch Duty and CrimeRadar Dispatch Audio. Apps built with the iOS 26 SDK or earlier run in a phone-sized window on the inner display until the developer ships an update built with the iOS 27.1 SDK. On the outer display they look normal.
Do reading apps work on iPhone Duo’s outer display?
Yes. The 5.4-inch outer display works like a regular iPhone screen, so every app runs there at normal phone size.
