Education apps on iPhone Duo

Of the 6 popular education apps we track on the US App Store, 1 is confirmed to fill iPhone Duo’s inner display, including ClassDojo. 5 still show black bars or unused space, including Duolingo, Gauth and PictureThis.

Learning apps benefit from room for a lesson and notes side by side, especially once Apple Pencil support arrives later this year.

Questions

Which education apps work on iPhone Duo?

All of them run on iPhone Duo. Of the 6 we track, 1 is confirmed to use the whole inner display: ClassDojo.

Do education apps have black bars on iPhone Duo?

5 of the 6 we track show black bars or unused space today, including Duolingo, Gauth, PictureThis, Learna and BigFuture School. Apps built with the iOS 26 SDK or earlier run in a phone-sized window on the inner display until the developer ships an update built with the iOS 27.1 SDK. On the outer display they look normal.

Do education apps work on iPhone Duo’s outer display?

Yes. The 5.4-inch outer display works like a regular iPhone screen, so every app runs there at normal phone size.
